One Day Chiang Rai & Golden Triangle

7.00 am. A mini-bus will pick you up at your hotel at the start of a scenic drive north through lush, undulating hills and valleys, passing picturesque villages on the route to Chiang Rai. We take a break to join the locals at Mae Kachan Hot Springs and stop at an Akha hill-tribe village and a Yao hill-tribe village along the way. Each of the hill-tribes has its own unique belief structure and language, expressing itself in colourful rituals and costumes. We have lunch in the historic town of Chiang Rai, where we visit a jade carving factory before proceeding on to the historical town of Chiang Saen. Located on the banks of the Mekong, its ancient remains are evidence of one of the earliest kingdoms in the region. The journey continues to the renowned Golden Triangle, where the borders of Burma, Laos and Thailand meet. There, we take a boat journey on the river and relax before returning to Chiang Mai in the evening.
